Ak) 4:52 Dogg Pound O.G., Kurupt, has teamed up with Philadelphia group Tangled Thoughts for a new release, called Kurupt Presents: Tangled Thoughts - Philly 2 Cali, on Good Hand Records. Kurupt, who also grew up in Philly before making a name for himself in Cali, has always envisioned ways to bring his East and West Coast influences together. So, teaming up with Tangled Thoughts to bring together the best of both worlds only made sense. Tangled Thoughts members Tek, De and Cas hooked up with Kurupt in the Spring of 2005. After working on a number of projects together, Kurupt was extremely impressed with the trio, and convinced them to take their act to Los Angeles. In the Fall of 2005 they did just that, hoping to follow the same "Philly 2 Cali" route to success Kurupt enjoyed in his storied career. "Kurupt is from the generation that we look up to, and we grew up listening to his classic albums. He's bringing the young boys up and showing us the ropes," explains De. DJ Truth, Good Hands Records CEO, echoes the sentiment. "Being able to work with Kurupt on breaking a group as talented as Tangled Thoughts has really been an exciting experience," Truth said. "Kurupt has contributed so much to Hip Hop already - it really says a lot about the group that he wanted to help make this happen. At the end of the day though, the music speaks for itself. It is not an accident that so many respected Philly and Cali artists wanted to be involved." Philly 2 Cali boasts 19 tracks with a list of guests that include Freeway, Roscoe, Sen Dog of Cypress Hill, Mellow Man Ace, Gillie Da Kid, Ab Liva, and Kurupt's soon-to-be wife Gail Gotti, among others. In addition to his creative input on the album, Kurupt lends his surefire delivery on six tracks. "This album is bringing the feel and vibe of the West Coast and mixing it with the swagger and lyricism of the East Coast," explained producer/emcee Tek. "I wanted to break up the monotony and pigeon-holing, and make an album that you can put on anywhere, and can play it all the way through and everyone will feel it."
