Based somewhere between Barcelona and Zurich, Indigo Raw drop tech infused House
that combines the assured sophistication of the Swiss with twisted Catalonian
energy. For IR009, Danny Ocean returns from Loco Dice?s Desolat imprint to
provide a pair of originals ripe for reworks from fellow members of the
imprint?s extended family. Street Toms is a refined piece of House music,
grooving in all the right places with subtle flecks of synth work and a
psychedelic twist. An ascending main line lifts the track smoothly yet retains
some dirt around the edges keeping things rough and ready for dance floor
action. Retrac takes the heady elements of the track and adds his trademark
acidic edge. Trading the calm delivery of the original for a little more edge,
he jacks up the beats and adds skittering percussion to ensure his take on
Street Toms will add drama and churn to the floor without relenting the energy.
Ocean?s 7000 is a master class in melodic Tech House. Charging beats meet an
infectious hook that is more potent with every cycle of its 10 minutes plus.
Energetic and with plenty of bounce, the track retains the tripped out
atmospherics that binds the package but is the most remorselessly purposeful of
the four cuts on show here. Rethinking the epic 7000, Andre Buljat, crafts a
light peak timer with a melody equally as satisfying as the original. This
aligned with solid drums and chords that are stretched to breaking point as the
track unfolds injects a distinct urgency to the track that will not go missing
as the evening hits its climax. Previous efforts come from Nima Gorji and
Andomat 3000 but with 009, Indigo Raw sticks with its talented stable of
producers to craft a well rounded package that is as much for the head as is the
hips. The raw funk and classy grooves set out in the label?s mantra are bubbling
over in this accomplished effort.
