| The Wars is a New Wave band from Berlin formed in 2008, |
| featuring Chris Kowski on vocals/guitar, Gernot Pohle on |
| bass and Bruce Pankowski on drums. The three-piece is |
| considered a 2nd generation post-punk revival project that |
| took its cues from bands like The Chameleons, Bauhaus, and |
| Joy Division, but is also influenced by groups like U2 or |
| My Bloody Valentine. Their songs effectively combine |
| sweeping guitar sounds and droning over-driven bass guitars |
| with Kowski's stentorian booms and nihilistic lyrics in a |
| unique way that is guaranteed to send shivers down your |
| spine, especially if you belong to the gloomy-laden army of |
| Interpol or Editors fans. |
