││ Do you remember the popular 'Beats Breaks and Scratches' CD compilati │
││ ons by Simon Harris and Non-Vinyl scratching by using a MIDI controll │
││ er is still not a NO-GO for you today? Good, then this compilation sh │
││ ould interest you, because this 'Beats Breaks and Scratches' was not │
││ the only compilation of its kind. On the contrary, official 'DMC Worl │
││ d DJ Championships' (started in 1985 as 'Disco Mix Club' and now as a │
││ collaboration with Red Bull) used their own vinyl releases for battle │
││ s back then (as they do today), because the samples used had to come │
││ from somewhere since mixing was done exclusively with vinyl and analo │
││ g battle mixers. You just had to have a vinyl that made that possible │
││ , unlike today where you can put whatever you want into the DJ tool, │
││ and that's exactly where this compilation comes in. It contains almos │
││ t exclusively 2-sided VINYLs (including classics such as Releases of │
││ 'Skratchy Seal') newly encoded in 'M4A' format. Well i think that mak │
││ es sense again these days, as you can now use them well now in Serato │
││ Traktor \ VirtualDj. Incidentally: It is done almost exactly the sam │
││ e way today, just with timecode vinyl System and Serato. An example- │
││ would be the popular 'Practice Yo! Cuts' Vinyls by 'Ritchie Ruftone' │
││ which are released beside classic 12 inch also as 7 (for portable-sc │

││ BRIEF NOTE ON THE FORMAT USED: │

││ I know that official Audio Releases still have to be in MP3 form │
││ today. I'm ignoring this for two reasons. Firstly, this is not an │
││ official release and secondly, it's just a fact that the M4A targ │
││ et quality is simply better than MP3. Especially in comparison to │
││ the low bit rate and quality of the result. Furthermore, I have - │
││ not re-encoded a HQ String-Orchestra here, but almost exclusively │
││ "voices" (like 'FRESH', for example) and some old school beats, - │
││ which allows you to use smaller bit rates, so that such source - │
││ material is not a big challenge for a modern encoder! And honest │
││ ly? In the end, they only serve for you as samples for scratchin │
││ g. So please! Finally: If you are now wondering why the WAV form │
││ at was not used straight away: That's right, I would have liked │
││ to, but I have the smallest internet bandwidth in the world and │
││ uploading would have been absolutely impossible. │
