Welcome to NFOmation. This is a public beta. Please report errors to
It is not a pastebin.
See Wikipedia for more about NFO files.
FAQ
- My upload is rejected as too big
- NFOmation accepts files up to 300K. The upload page checks the size before anything is sent, so you won't waste your, or our, bandwidth.
- What characters are commonly used in NFO files?
- There are many commonly used characters in NFO files.
I have put together an Organized NFO Characters File that makes it easy to find the characters you need. - Can I select different views to be default when I link to an NFO?
- NFOmation supports many views in the URL. Here are some examples for our Mascot:
- Normal (Dos) View: nfomation.net/info/1337.mascot.nfo or nfomation.net/info.dos/1337.mascot.nfo
- Win View: nfomation.net/info.win/1337.mascot.nfo
- Image View: nfomation.net/info.image/1337.mascot.nfo
- Inverted Normal (Dos) View: nfomation.net/invert.info/1337.mascot.nfo or nfomation.net/invert.info.dos/1337.mascot.nfo
- Inverted Win View: nfomation.net/invert.info.win/1337.mascot.nfo
- Inverted Image View: nfomation.net/invert.info.image/1337.mascot.nfo
- Do the sites linked from an NFO know I came from here?
- No. Links in NFO files are opened without sending a referrer, so Amazon, IMDB, etc. don't know you're visiting because their link was in an NFO file.
- I am unable to create a direct link to the NFO download.
- This is by design to prevent people from abusing our service.
We require all NFO file downloads be done by clicking the Download button. - I am unable to upload an NFO file; the site says "bad file extension"
- NFOmation only allows files with extensions ending in .nfo or .txt to be uploaded.
Please verify your file is really an NFO text file and rename it to end with .nfo. - Some NFO files have tabs in them. How does NFOmation handle tabs?
- During rendering NFOmation converts all tabs to 8 spaces.
8 spaces is the standard for most POSIX and DOS consoles for a tab character.
During our tests with multiple NFOs containing tabs and formatting characters afterwards, 8 characters caused most layouts to align properly. - I am unable to upload an NFO file; the site says "bad file, looks like you're trying to pull a fast one on us by renaming a file."
- NFOmation only allows NFO and TXT files to be uploaded.
We analyze each uploaded file to determine if it is really an NFO file.
It is very likely that what you tried to upload is not an NFO file.
Please verify that the file is an NFO file.
If you know your file is an NFO file, then please email the address on the home page an error report and include the NFO file. If we determine it to really be an NFO file, we will try to make the system recognize your file in the future. - I love your mascot. Can I use it?
- Feel free to use it, it is licensed under GFDL CopyLeft. Just make sure you follow the rules of the CopyLeft.
Upload API
Tools and sites can upload NFOs to NFOmation automatically. You need a key: request one below. We don't ask for your name or email. You get the key straight away, and it starts working once we've approved it. Uploads through the API follow the same rules as the upload form and the terms of use.
Uploading
Send the file as multipart/form-data in a field called nfo, with your key in the
Authorization header:
curl -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY" -F "nfo=@release.nfo" https://nfomation.net/api/v1/upload
On success you get 201 Created and the links to the new NFO:
{
"ok": true,
"name": "1700000000.release.nfo",
"url": "https://nfomation.net/info/1700000000.release.nfo",
"image": "https://nfomation.net/nfo.white/1700000000.release.nfo.png",
"image_dark": "https://nfomation.net/nfo.black/1700000000.release.nfo.png",
"download": "https://nfomation.net/download/1700000000/release.nfo"
}
If something goes wrong you get "ok": false and an "error" message, with an HTTP status such as
401 (missing or unknown key), 403 (key not approved yet, or revoked), 413 (over 300K),
415 (not an NFO or text file), 422 (links to a blocked site) or 429 (too many uploads).
Checking your key
curl -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY" https://nfomation.net/api/v1/status
"status" is pending (waiting for approval), active or revoked.
Requests that aren't approved within 30 days are deleted.
Limits
- 30 uploads an hour per key, and 300K per file.
- Keep your key private. Anything uploaded with it is linked to it, and we may revoke a key at any time.
Terms of use
NFOmation is a free service for uploading and viewing NFO files. By using it you agree to these terms.
Uploading
- Only .nfo and .txt files, up to 300K. It's not a pastebin.
- Everything you upload is public. Anyone can view, link to and download it, and our rendered images may be hotlinked.
- Only upload files you have the right to share, and nothing unlawful, infringing or malicious.
- We may remove any file, and block anyone who abuses the service, at any time.
- If you use the upload API, keep your key private. You're responsible for what's uploaded with it, and we may refuse or revoke a key at any time.
Removal requests
If you believe a file here infringes your copyright (including under the DMCA) or is otherwise unlawful, email
with:
- the URL of each file;
- what it infringes or why it is unlawful, and your connection to it;
- your name and contact details.
We deal with requests promptly. Removed files are replaced by a notice and can't be uploaded again. If you think a file was removed by mistake, contact us at the same address.
Licensing
The site's content is Copyleft under the GNU Free Documentation License. Uploaded NFO files may have their own licences. The back-end source code is not public and is protected by copyright.
The small print
The service is provided free and as is, without warranty. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for uploaded files, for the sites they link to, or for the service being unavailable. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
Privacy policy
NFOmation has no accounts and uses no advertising or analytics cookies.
What we keep
- Uploads. The file you upload, its name and the upload time are public. We don't record who uploaded a file, other than in the server logs below.
- Server logs. Our web server records standard technical details (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser) to keep the site running and secure and to deal with abuse. Logs are deleted automatically after 14 days.
- Your settings. If you use the light/dark switch or Actual size, your choice is saved in your own browser so it's remembered next time. It never leaves your device.
- API keys. If you request one, we keep what you told us you'll use it for, a scrambled copy of the key, when it was last used and which files were uploaded with it. We don't ask for your name or email.
- Removal requests. If you send one, we keep it and our response as a record.
We rely on our legitimate interest in running a working, secure service. We don't sell or share this information, except with Cloudflare, which carries all traffic to and from the site, and our hosting provider, or where the law requires it.
Cookies
We don't use cookies to track you, so there's nothing to accept or decline. Your light/dark and Actual size choices are kept
in your browser's local storage (not a cookie), only after you use those controls, because you asked for them to be remembered.
Cloudflare may set a short-lived security cookie (such as __cf_bm or cf_clearance) to tell visitors
apart from automated traffic; that is needed to keep the site working and safe. You can clear all of these in your browser settings.
Other sites
Links in NFO files take you to other sites, which have their own privacy policies. We don't tell them you came from NFOmation.
